Former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has turned down the opportunity to take over as boss of the Mexico national team.

The German tactician left his post at Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season and is a man in demand, already having been linked with a whole host of jobs, including with succeeding Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.

Mexico have become the latest to offer Klopp a post, but the German has rebuffed their approach.

Guillermo Cantu, the technical secretary of the Mexican Federation, was quoted as saying by L'Equipe: "We contacted him through his agent, but he said he was on sabbatical and it was not possible at the moment."

It has been claimed that Klopp may be prepared to break his sabbatical if he receives a sufficiently tempting offer.

He has also been linked with taking over at Bayern Munich next summer, with Pep Guardiola tipped to then leave his post.

It remains to be seen where the German tactician ends up, but he is an attractive proposition for a number of clubs.
