Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini feels that his side were dominant in the latter stages of last night’s Champions League encounter against Borussia Monchengladbach, adding that luck favoured his side, unlike in some of their recent games.

The Manchester giants travelled to Borussia-Park to take on the Foals in their second Champions League group game of the campaign, and following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of last year’s finalists Juventus, the English outfit registered a win by the same margin against the Germans to remain in the hunt for a spot in the round of 16.

Pellegrini termed it a strange game, and feels that his side were the better team in the latter stages of the second half.

“It was a strange game”, the Chilean was quoted as saying by UEFA.

“With 65 minutes played, both teams had chances to score. After that, we really dominated and made chances.

“They played better than us, especially defensively because we didn't defend well, but after that we had a strong reaction for the last 30 minutes and finally we won the game.

"I must say Borussia played very, very well.”

Manchester City lost their Champions League opener to Juventus and were also dealt a 2-1 loss in the Premier League by West Ham United.

Pellegrini feels that in both defeats luck deserted his side, which was not the case last night.

“We got a bit of luck at the end but we have had plenty of bad luck recently.

“Against Juventus and West Ham we didn't deserve to lose and maybe today, we didn't deserve to win but we did.”
