Celtic boss Ronny Deila feels a bad start to the second half cost his side two points last night against Fenerbahce.

Goals from Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons gave Celtic a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first half of their Europa League group game against their Turkish opponents at Celtic Park.

However, the Bhoys conceded a brace from Fernandao which levelled the scores and the home side failed to find the crucial winner in the remaining minutes of the game.

Deila was disappointed at losing two crucial points at home and believes their poor start after the break cost them a win. He admits that they also need to work on their set-piece defending, as that allowed Fenerbahce to score two goals.

“We started the second half poorly”, Deila told BT Sport.

“Then they get to 2-2, through a set-piece, something that we need to sort out if we want to get better.”

He feels Celtic finished the game the stronger of the two sides, but believes that despite playing in some good balls inside the box in the last quarter of the game, they didn’t create enough clear-cut opportunities to score the winner.

“I think we finished the game better and in the last 15-20 minutes we put in some good crosses, but we didn’t create enough big chances.”

The Scottish champions are current second in Group A behind Molde, who drew with Ajax in the group’s other game last night.
