Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has no issue with the club's fans supporting John Terry during the time he is not out on the pitch.

Terry has lost his regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge and the club's fans are keen for the veteran defender to be restored to the starting line-up amid the Blues' poor run of form.

Chelsea fans chanted that they wanted Terry back in the team earlier this week when the Blues went down to defeat away to FC Porto in the Champions League.

Mourinho was today asked for his reaction to the Chelsea fans' response and told a press conference: "The fans can sing and I'm happy when they sing and support John.

"It's more important they support John when he's not playing than when he is playing", the Portuguese continued.

"When he's playing well and on a high he doesn't need support."

Mourinho would not be drawn on whether he will restore Terry to the starting line-up for Chelsea's Premier League match against Southampton this coming weekend.

The centre-back played a key role for Chelsea last term as the Blues won the Premier League title and was rewarded with a new contract.
