Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has given credit to his fellow defenders Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista, who he believes have been instrumental in his progress.

The youngster, who joined the Gunners from fellow Premier League outfit Southampton in 2014, has been impressive for Arsene Wenger's team, having played a total of 39 matches for the Gunners so far, managing three assists.

He even managed to force his way into the senior England set-up early on during his time at Arsenal.

Speaking about his development so far at the Emirates Stadium, Chambers insists that the club's senior defenders have been more than considerate in assisting him, helping him out in training whenever he is confused or is need of assistance.

Chambers told his club's official website: "I speak to Per a lot.

”Per is always there to help me out. In training if I ever need someone or I’m a bit confused I ask Per, Koscienly or Gabriel what they would do.

“They always tell me what they would do and it is good to learn from as they are top quality players.”

Having progressed through Southampton's junior ranks, Chambers broke through the Saints' senior outfit in 2013 and after an impressive 2013/14 domestic season, was snapped up by Arsenal.
