Wigan Athletic have snapped up young Manchester United defender Donald Love on a two-month loan.

The Scotland Under-21 international graduated to Manchester United's Under-21 set-up in 2013 and has made 25 appearances for the Under-21s.

The club have decided to loan him out to Wigan until December to provide the defender with his first taste of senior football, albeit in the third tier of English football.

Love has been a regular for the club in youth football and has also represent Scotland in youth international matches, both at Under-19 and Under-21 level.

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell will be hoping that the 20-year-old defender adds some defensive strength to the team, as he looks to help the Latics climb up the Football League ladder.

Love will also be hoping to get some minutes of senior football under his belt in League One before he returns to the Manchester United Under-21s in December.

The Latics are currently 9th in the League One table and Love could make his first foray into senior football when they take on Walsall tomorrow at the DW Stadium.
