Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino feels his side were unlucky to not come away with all three points against Monaco last night.

Erik Lamela gave Tottenham the lead at the Stade Louis II last night and for long periods it seemed Spurs would take all three points to north London from France.

However, former AC Milan man Stephan El Shaarawy scored in the 81st minute to level the scores and earned Monaco a crucial point at home against Pochettino’s men.

While he feels his side lost two points last night, Pochettino also conceded that Monaco are a strong side and did create a few opportunities to score before Tottenham took the lead in the first half.

However, he feels Spurs dominated the game after the break and feels that they are a tad unlucky to come away with only a point, despite putting in an impressive performance.

“I think we lost two points”, Pochettino told BT Sport.

“It is true the first half was difficult for us because Monaco created some chances but we scored.

“However, in the second half we dominated the game and I think it is unlucky as the three points were there for us to take, but that’s football.

“But I am happy with the performance.”

Tottenham are at the top of Group J of the Europa League on four points, ahead of Qarabag, who defeated Anderlecht in the other game of the group last night.
