Manchester United custodian David de Gea believes the presence of Petr Cech in goal will make a big difference to Arsenal’s team this season.

Arsene Wenger snapped up the veteran goalkeeper from Chelsea during the summer and much to the frustration of Gunners fans, he was the only bit of meaningful transfer activity that happened at the Emirates during the window.

Despite a poor start against West Ham on the opening day of the season, Cech has settled down as the club’s first choice and his absence was felt in Arsenal’s defeat to Olympiacos on Tuesday night at the Emirates.

De Gea feels Arsenal are one of the top teams in the league and have the requisite number of attacking players to hurt any quality opponents on their day.

However, he believes Cech’s signing could be a game changer for Arsenal this season and his experience and quality as a goalkeeper might make a huge difference to their season.

“They have one of the best teams in the league”, De Gea told MUTV.

“They have some very good individuals, very fast players up front and I think they are a very good team.”

When asked how big a difference Cech’s signing can make for Arsenal, the Spaniard said: “I think he is a great 'keeper, one of the best in the world.

“I think having him in goal will really help Arsenal a lot; he has so many games under his belt and he is just a top goalkeeper.”

De Gea himself has been in superb form for Manchester United over the last few campaigns and has been the club’s Player of the Year for two seasons running.
