Matteo Darmian has revealed that the professional environment at Manchester United has helped him to settle down in England, explaining that the Red Devils are every bit as big as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Manchester United snapped up the Italy international from Torino this summer and the 25-year-old has already made a huge impression during the first two months of the season.

He earned rave reviews for his performances at right back during the start of the campaign and his recent stint at left back has also helped Louis van Gaal to soften the blow of losing Luke Shaw to a long term injury last month.

The Italian is enjoying life as a Manchester United player in England and revealed that the professional set-up at the club, coupled with their human touch, has helped him to settle down quickly.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Manchester United full-back said: “United are top club, as big as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“Organisation is the strength of English clubs, but I found an environment inside the club that is professional but with a human touch.

“The dressing room created the best conditions for me to acclimatise.”

The 25-year-old also revealed the hard taskmaster that Van Gaal is, but is also impressed with the way the Dutchman is aware of every minute detail.

Darmian added: “Van Gaal is tough; He demands a lot in training and is extremely attentive to detail.”
