Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler is pleased with Sunderland's approach to loaning Will Buckley and feels the Black Cats have done his side a favour.

Sunderland allowed the winger to train with Leeds last week ahead of then officially putting pen to paper on a 93-day loan deal yesterday.

Leeds wanted to wait to seal the loan in order that it will run until the winter transfer window is open, at which point they can look to extend it until the end of the season or potentially sign Buckley permanently.

For Rosler, Sunderland allowing Buckley to train with Leeds for two weeks is appreciated and he has included the winger in his matchday squad for this afternoon's Championship match against Birmingham City.

"He will be in the matchday squad. I'm very happy that it's been finalised and we have Will until 2nd January", Rosler told a press conference.

"I think it was very good of Sunderland, they have already given us the player for two weeks and he had the time to adjust to us, to play with the players, so he wasn't thrown into the deep water and [expected to] swim", the German boss continued.

"He had time to settle in and he adapted very well and he is ready for the 18-man squad."

It remains to be seen whether Buckley will make his Leeds debut at Elland Road today against Birmingham, but he offers the Whites another attacking option.
