Arsene Wenger is disappointed with Liverpool’s decision to part ways with Brendan Rodgers earlier today.

Earlier this evening, the Reds announced that they have sacked the Northern Irishman from his post and the search for the new Liverpool manager is under way.

Following another summer of heavy spending, the Reds made a poor start to the season and a draw at Everton in the Merseyside derby was the last nail in Rodgers’ managerial coffin at Liverpool.

Wenger is disappointed with Liverpool’s decision and feels that Rodgers remains a quality coach, but he also added that the pressure of bad results are always bigger on managers these days.

He also pointed out that under the Northern Irishman, Liverpool came mightily close to winning the league title, something the club have failed to do for more than two decades.

The Arsenal boss said in a press conference: “I am always sad when that happens.

“I think he is a quality manager, but unfortunately, the pressure is always bigger on the managers.

"I think he was very unlucky not to win the Premier League; he came closest to winning it amongst all the managers they have had over the years.

“But that is the way things go now.”

The Frenchman is also confident that the former Liverpool boss has enough ability to land a new job as soon as possible.

“I wish him good luck and I am sure he will find a job again.”
