Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand feels Liverpool must be looking to appoint either Jurgen Klopp or Carlo Ancelotti as Brendan Rodgers’ replacement.

The Reds sacked the Northern Irishman earlier this evening and announced that due diligence will be taken while appointing his replacement; and the search starts now.

Last season’s performance, coupled with a poor start to the campaign, made Rodgers’ position untenable and another 1-1 draw at Everton today was the final straw for the club hierarchy, who decided to act fast.

Former Dortmund boss Klopp, who is currently on a sabbatical, has been widely linked with the Liverpool job since his departure from the Westfalenstadion at the end of last season and is currently the favourite to take up the job at Anfield

Ancelotti, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, is also in the reckoning for the Liverpool manager’s job and Ferdinand feels the club must be looking to appoint either of the two.
