Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand feels that if Arsenal repeat their performance from yesterday’s win over the Red Devils on a regular basis then they can be genuine contenders for the Premier League title.

The Gunners were in superlative form as they dealt Manchester United a crushing loss at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. The hosts ran into a 3-0 lead by the 20th minute and managed to keep Louis van Gaal’s side at bay for the entirety of the game to come away with a remarkable win.

The win for the Gunners came on the back of a surprising 3-2 loss at the hands of Olympiacos in a Champions League game at the Emirates Stadium that raised all sorts of questions about the north Londoners’ ability to mount a title challenge.

And Ferdinand, who was present at yesterday’s match with his kids, feels that it is up to the players to realise that they are capable of such superlative displays week in and week out. And if they can manage to do that they can be Premier League title contenders.

“It’s down to these players to recognise all of this & move forward relentlessly because they have shown what they are capable of in this game….”, the former defender wrote on his Facebook account.
