Former Manchester United and current Real Sociedad manager David Moyes has been linked with being a contender to succeed Dick Advocaat at Sunderland.

Advocaat led the club to safety in the Premier League last season, but presided over a troubled campaign this term which leaves the Black Cats without a league win so far.

Sunderland are ahead of only Newcastle United in the Premier League table and drew 2-2 with West Ham at the weekend.

Advocaat resigned from his role yesterday, leaving the Black Cats looking for a new manager.

Moyes, who is familiar with the Premier League, having ruled the roost at Everton and then enjoyed a brief and unsuccessful stint at the helm of Manchester United, is a contender for the Sunderland job, according to the BBC.
