Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick hopes that the international break will allow his team the chance to recharge their batteries and come back stronger after yesterday's drubbing against Arsenal.

The Red Devils were handed a 3-0 defeat by Arsene Wenger’s men at the Emirates Stadium. The hosts started at a scorching pace and scored all their goals in the first 20 minutes, keeping the visitors at arm’s length throughout the encounter.

The league will now take a break as the players report for international duty and Carrick is hoping that his team bounce back soon from the disappointment.

"We want to bounce back and we are going to have to wait a while to do that”, he told MUTV.

He takes heart from the fact that last international break came after his team lost to Swansea and the break worked like a charm as they went on a three-match winning run in the league prior to their visit to north London.

And Carrick wants a repeat of the same kind of response.

“The last international break came after the Swansea game, so we’ve just got to go away, refresh and come back stronger again."

Manchester United will be away at Goodison Park against Everton in their next league fixture post the international break.
