West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has heaped praise on departed Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat, saying that there aren’t many managers of his ilk and Premier League will be worse off without the Dutchman.

Sunderland have endured a difficult start to their 2015/16 Premier League campaign as they are still looking for their first win of the season. And Advocaat left the Stadium of Light outfit this weekend after his team squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against the Hammers at home.

Bilic, who has taken the reins of the Hammers for the 2015/16 season, has heaped praise on the Dutchman, whom he termed a man of knowledge and renowned expertise as he has managed teams across many countries.

“He is a man of knowledge, and his experience at different clubs in different countries and at international level is unbelievable”, the West Ham boss was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

“I told him I would like to stay, you saw on the touchline he is a man full of energy and passion. The Premier League will be worse off without him.

“But it’s his decision, only he knows what he feels. For a man of his experience, he’s basically done everything in different countries, at international level."

The former Croatia international further added that he holds Advocaat in very high regard and there aren’t many managers of his ilk in the game.

“Only he knows but I rate him so much, there aren’t many managers like him.”
