Rangers defender Lee Wallace has revealed that James Tavernier and himself are mindful of their defensive duties and are not getting carried away with their prolific returns in front of goal.

The Scottish giants have started their Championship campaign at a blistering pace as they have won their first nine games and have opened up nine-point lead on top of the table ahead of second placed Raith Rovers.

Left-back Wallace and right-back Tavernier were both on the scoresheet in this weekend’s 3-1 win over Falkirk and they swelled their individual league goal tallies to five each.

Wallace has declared that despite their prolific form, the two full-backs are well aware of their defensive duties in the team.

"I think that Tav and me need to make sure that we focus entirely on doing what we can to contribute to the team as best we can”, he told Rangers TV.

"It's been an added bonus that we've been able to chip in with the goals that we have, but first and foremost we realise our jobs within the team."

Rangers will take on Queen of the South in their next league encounter on 17th October at Ibrox and will be keen to grab all three points as they remain on course for promotion to the Premiership.
