Southampton defender and former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk has revealed that he has found the pace of the English Premier League to be much faster than that in the Scottish Premiership.

Van Dijk had a two-year stint at Celtic Park before he moved to St. Mary’s earlier this summer and has found his way straight into Ronald Koeman’s first team at the club.

The Dutchman has gone on to make five appearances across all competitions for the Saints and also has a goal against his name, having found the back of the net against Swansea in a 3-1 win for his side.

The defender has admitted that he has learnt a lot in the space of a few months in the English league and is happy with the development that he is undergoing at St. Mary's.

"I've been in five games at Southampton learned and have much more than in the previous years, so I'm definitely going forward as a football player”, he told NUsport.
