Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is confident that his compatriot Allan will make a big impact with the Reds in the future.

The 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder trained with Liverpool before the club decided to snap him up from Internacional in the summer and was immediately loaned out to Finnish side SJK until December.

Allan has already scored once in six apperances for table topping SJK and is hoping to gain vital experience before he returns to Merseyside in January.

Lucas revealed that he has watched Allan in training and indicated that he took the Brazilian under his wing during the weeks he trained with the Reds before signing his contract.

“I met Allan when he came to train at Melwood a few months ago”, Lucas told the club's official magazine.

“He’s been round to my house and we talked a little bit. We had him here training intensely for a couple of weeks and he is another one for the future.”

The midfielder revealed that Internacional are famous for developing young Brazilian talent and he is confident that Allan has the talent to carry forward his former club’s legacy.

Lucas is sure that the youngster has the ability to make a big impact for the Reds in the future.

“He played in my city for Gremio’s biggest rivals, Internacional, which is very famous in Brazil for producing players. In the two weeks he was here we could see that he has a great future ahead of him.

“Now he has gone away to get some experience and playing time on loan in Finland and hopefully at some point in the next few years he will be ready to make an impact for Liverpool.”

It remains to be seen whether Allan manages to convince the new Liverpool manager to give him an opportunity in January to prove his worth for the club.
