Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has chosen to stay silent on the rumours of him joining Liverpool soon.

Since Brendan Rodgers’ sacking on Sunday evening, Klopp has been the number one contender to become the next Liverpool manager and there are rumours that the deal could be completed soon.

While Carlo Ancelotti has also been considered for the post, the German is the favourite to arrive at Anfield and there is speculation that he could be named the new Reds manager by the end of this week.

Liverpool are keen to get the new man in position soon, so that he can prepare for next week’s clash against Tottenham and Klopp seems to be their man.

However, the 48-year-old has chosen to remain coy on his future and decided to deflect the Liverpool rumours.

When asked about the Liverpool rumours, Klopp told Bild: “There is nothing to say [at the moment].

“I am going back home.”

While Liverpool remain confident of getting their man soon, there is speculation that Klopp wants more assurances from them when it comes to his role in the transfer market and wants to have the final say on the club’s transfer dealings before he commits to the Reds.

Rodgers was sacked on Sunday evening, following Liverpool's 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park.
