Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is interested in joining Barcelona, it has been claimed, but his agent has also spoken to Real Madrid about a transfer.

The Brazil international is one of the first names on Barcelona's shortlist that the club want to pursue once their transfer ban is lifted in January and the side are pondering over making a move in the winter transfer window.

The Catalan giants are confident that Coutinho will add a lot their already potent attack and are keen to bring him to Catalunya from Liverpool in the near future.

However, Barcelona are aware Liverpool might not be willing sellers and they will have to come up with a huge offer to convince them to sell their star man.

And according to Catalan daily Sport, his agents have also spoken with Real Madrid, which has further muddied the waters for Barcelona as they are not keen to get into a bidding war for Coutinho with their greatest rivals.

However, it has been suggested that if he has to make a choice, Coutinho is likely to choose Barcelona over Real Madrid and is ready to move to the Catalan giants if they come up with an offer soon.

There has been speculation that Barcelona are keen to use Neymar, one of the Coutinho’s closest friends, to lure him to the Nou Camp and the Brazil captain has already said that he is keen to play with the Liverpool man for the Blaugrana.

Liverpool are unlikely to sell their star player in January and it remains to be seen whether they manage to move into the Champions League spots at the end of the season to convince Coutinho to remain at the club beyond next summer.
