Tottenham Hotspur starlet Eric Dier has lauded Christian Eriksen for his free-kick taking prowess, saying the Danes’ dead ball skills are a fantastic weapon for the Lilywhites.

Eriksen scored from two exquisite free-kicks in Spurs’ match against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in their last league encounter to help his side secure a 2-2 draw.

The Denmark international, who has been at White Hart Lane since he landed from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2013 under then Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, grabbed some important goals last season and he has continued in the same vein this term.

Dier, who played in defence last term, but has been deployed as a defensive midfielder on occasion by Mauricio Pochettino this season, has said that the Dane’s free-kicks have all the team believing that he will put one in.

“Every time he stands over the ball you believe he might have a chance”, he was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

“He had another free-kick in the first half [against Swansea] that was tipped around the post.”

Dier revealed that Eriksen’s dexterity at free-kicks is a result of the hard work he puts into training.

“He works on it every day and it’s a fantastic weapon for us."
