Manchester United defender Phil Jones has said that he cherishes playing for the England national team, adding that being able to maintain good form and fitness will allow him to turn out consistently for the Three Lions.

Jones has endured a difficult start to the ongoing season as he has been nursing an injury. He has made only three appearances – one each in the Premier League, the Champions League and the League Cup – so far this season.

Roy Hodgson’s England team are scheduled to face Estonia and Lithuania in their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers due to be played on 9th October and 12th October respectively.

And Jones, who is part of the squad for the two games, has said that he cherishes turning out for his national team, adding that being fit and in form for Manchester United will allow him to serve the Three Lions better.

"Playing for England is a huge honour, whenever you’re selected, and I want to be part of the squad and part of the Euros, but I know I have to maintain a good level of form and fitness for United to be able to do that”, the defender was quoted as saying by his club’s site.
