Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez believes that Neymar will soon extend his contract with the Blaugrana, terming him the second best player in the world after club stalwart Lionel Messi.

Neymar has been at the Camp Nou outfit since the summer of 2013 when he arrived from Santos, and he has gone on to become an indispensable member of the first team under club manager Luis Enrique.

Last season, he formed a fearsome triumvirate with Messi and Luis Suarez in the Barcelona attack and went on to notch 39 goals and 11 assists across all competitions to help the club win a treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

Neymar, who was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer and admitted he heard the chatter, has been in talks with the club to sign a new contract, and now Fernandez has revealed that everything is on track and the Brazilian will soon be penning a new deal with the Blaugrana.

"Contract talks haven't broken down”, the sporting director told Cadena SER in an interview.
