French midfielder Morgan Amalfitano has left West Ham United by mutual consent, the club have announced.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined the Hammers from Ligue 1 giants Marseille last summer and made 32 appearances for the club during his 13-month stint at Upton Park.

While he was an important part of the squad under Sam Allardyce last season, new boss Slaven Bilic never warm to him and the player was said to have been asked to look for a new club in the summer.

A number of French clubs were linked with a move for Amalfitano during the transfer window, but a deal never materialised and the midfielder had to stay at West Ham beyond the summer.

But the club and the player have reached an agreement over terminating his contract at Upton Park and Amalfitano is now a free agent.
