Arsenal and Chelsea have both been slapped with fines by the Football Association.

Both clubs were charged by English football's governing body with failing to control their players in a match they played out at Stamford Bridge on 19th September.




The game was controversial and eventually saw Diego Costa slapped with a retrospective ban, as Chelsea won 2-0 and Arsenal finished the match with nine men.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea admitted breaching the FA's rule E20 and as a result have been fined.
 


Chelsea will pay a fine of £40,000, while Arsenal have to pay £30,000 and each club has been warned about their future conduct.

The FA confirmed that in determining the fine to be paid they had considered the prior record of both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The game stirred up more bad blood between Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who have enjoyed a fractious relationship in recent years.
