Ex-Liverpool boss Roy Evans believes that the Reds appointing Jurgen Klopp as their new manager is a good decision, however he is hoping the Merseyside giants have done their homework on the German.

Liverpool's decision to sack Brendan Rodgers on Sunday opened up a vacancy at Anfield and they acted quickly to appoint Klopp, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season.

The German has signed on the dotted line at Anfield and will be presented as the club's new manager at a press conference on Friday.

Evans is hoping all goes smoothly and the German is able to work within the structure of the club.

"I think it's a good decision", he said on LFC TV.

"What I do hope, and I don't know all the ins and outs of Jurgen Klopp at the end of the day, is that the club have really done their homework and they've spoken together and they believe they can work together in the Liverpool system", Evans added.

Now the former Liverpool boss believes that the new manager and the club's players must work overtime on integrating in order that they can hit the ground running.

"Obviously it's a different league for him. He needs a little bit of assistance and hopefully he'll keep the guys that are here with him, or maybe bring one guy with good ideas.

"But most of all it's got to be about the players integrating with the manager and they need to do that very quickly."

Klopp will have his first taste of life as the Liverpool manager after the international break when he takes his new side to White Hart Lane to lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash.
