Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes Jurgen Klopp has every chance of leading Liverpool into the Premier League's top four this season.

Liverpool sacked Brendan Rodgers on Sunday and moved quickly to bring in former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp as his successor, announcing the German as their new manager this evening.

Redknapp, who has noted Chelsea's slump, feels that Klopp is heading into a superb club and as a consequence has every chance of finishing in the Champions League spots this term.

He said on Kicca: "Klopp will go in there, he's got a good group of players, they are capable of finishing fourth, maybe might finish fifth.

"But he's got a good chance because he's going to a fantastic football club", the former Spurs boss continued.

Redknapp also registered his surprise at Rodgers being sacked, explaining he did not foresee the Northern Irishman being axed, while he also believes that the former Reading manager had to cope with losing five of his best players.

"I've said it all along, he lost his best players, he lost Luis Suarez, who was the best player in the Premier League at that time", Redknapp said.

"He lost [Raheem] Sterling, [Steven] Gerrard retired, [Daniel] Sturridge has never been fit to play for him and 18 months before he lost [Jamie] Carragher, who retired.

"That's five of his best players."

Klopp's first game as Liverpool manager will come after the international break away to Redknapp's old club Tottenham Hotspur.
