Manchester United star Daley Blind is in no mood to give up on the hopes of the Netherlands qualifying for the 2016 European Championship.

The Netherlands national team, currently under the stewardship of Daley’s father Danny, have endured a difficult qualification campaign as they sit fourth in Group A behind Iceland, the Czech Republic and Turkey – who are occupying the playoff spot.

The Dutch have to face Kazakhstan on 10th October and then play the Czech Republic three days later, however, winning both games won’t be sufficient for the 1988 European champions in their bid to make the finals in France. They will have to rely on the results of Turkey’s matches to know their fate.

Nevertheless Daley, who has been plying his trade for Manchester United since he joined the side after helping his national team finish third in the 2014 World Cup, is in no mood to give up on qualification hopes yet.

"It's very important for us to get third in the group", he told MUTV.

"Unfortunately, we don't have it in our own hands anymore. Turkey have to lose and we need to win both of games. That's our job.

"We're not giving up at the moment. We have to fight, but we have to see what happens. They are two tough games we have to win but it's not only about that.

"If we want to have the chance to get to the Euros, there are no doubts about it – we have to win and Turkey must drop some points.

"It will be a shame if we don't make it but I don't want to think about that now."
