Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is hopeful that Jurgen Klopp will help the club to attract quality German players to Anfield because of his presence.

Amidst much fanfare, the 48-year-old German coach was unveiled as the club’s new manager earlier this morning in a press conference. He signed a three-year contract yesterday to replace Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

The two-time Bundesliga winning manager has already generated excitement around the club and has promised to help the Reds to develop into a force in the Premier League again.

Carragher is also excited to see Klopp take charge of affairs at Anfield and feels players will love playing under the charismatic German from Stuttgart.

“He’s got a charisma about him, he’s got a personality”, the former defender told LFC TV.

“I think everyone in world football thought that when we were watching him with Dortmund in interviews before the Champions League final. You thought he was the type of fella you would play for.”

The former England defender also believes Klopp’s pedigree as a manager will help Liverpool to attract quality players to the club in the transfer market.

And believes his German connection will also play a huge role in bringing talented players from his country to Anfield, which should be an added advantage for the Reds.

“You are hoping that with his personality and also with his track record he can attract players to the club.

“Hopefully he will have contacts in Germany where they produce fantastic footballers and world champions, maybe some of the players he had when was at Dortmund.

“I think that’s part of management now, what players you can attract to the club.”

Klopp has his work cut out to get Liverpool into next season’s Champions League as they are currently tenth in the league table on 12 points, however the majority of the campaign remains to be played.
