Leeds United youngster Lee Erwin has joined League One side Bury on a month-long loan deal in order to gather more first-team experience.

The 21-year-old striker, who joined from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell this summer, putting pen-to-paper to a three-year deal, has found his chances limited at Elland Road.

The young forward is in fact yet to make his debut for the Whites' senior side and has had to content himself with Under-21 football.

Erwin has been more or less a regular for the Under-21s, finding the back of the net three times on five occasions, including a double strike against Queens Park Rangers late last month.

Speaking about the possibility of a loan move, the striker after the QPR match had his club's official website: "I would enjoy going out on loan if there’s no chance for me of getting first-team football here.

“After getting first-team football last year, it’s a lot better than playing Under-21 football.

“Hopefully I can get the chance to prove my point. The main thing for me is just to develop. I’m still just 21.”

Erwin, a product of Motherwell's youth academy, made his senior debut for the club in 2012. He managed a total of 34 league appearances for the Scottish club, scoring five goals, before his departure at the end of last season.

He secured a move to Elland Road this summer after turning down a new contract with Motherwell, with the Whites paying compensation for his services.
