England's stand-in skipper Gary Cahill has heaped praise on team-mate Harry Kane, insisting that the Tottenham man is a top class performer.

Manager Roy Hodgson trusted in Kane to lead England's attack in a 2-0 win over Estonia in the absence of Wayne Rooney and the Tottenham man is likely to again be looked to when the Three Lions play Lithuania.




Cahill, who wears the armband in Rooney's absence, feels that his team can very well trust Kane as he has always been fantastic for the Three Lions.

Kane has in fact managed three goals in five appearances so far for the England senior side in addition to the 37 for Tottenham in the course of his 88 first-team appearances.
 


And Cahill having faced him multiple times at club level is well aware of the kind of threat that the youngster possesses, including his physical abilities and tendency to appear as the target man.

“He's been fantastic", Cahill told the FA's official website.

"This season he's helped the team do well and, for us, training with him the last few days, you can see he's a top class performer.

“He's not scared to turn and try and run you, he has great attributes as a finisher – left foot, right foot, good with his head – he's got half a chance.

"Physically he's strong, he can be a target man, he can take you on. He's an exciting player, still young and still developing.”
