West Ham striker Mauro Zarate is eyeing more goals after recovering from his early season injury.

The 28-year-old striker started the season on a positive note with a goal in West Ham’s 2-0 win at Arsenal on the opening day of the campaign.

However, he suffered a thigh injury after their loss to Leicester at home in August and was forced to miss the next three league games for Slaven Bilic’s side.

While he has recovered, the Hammers boss has been careful about not rushing him back into the starting eleven and he made late substitute appearances against Norwich and Sunderland to ease his way back to the team.

The Argentine is feeling a lot fitter and has insisted that he has completely recovered from his thigh problems. He is also grateful to the Hammers coaching staff for not rushing him to action and giving him the time to properly recover.

“I feel good again now after getting over the injury I had earlier in the season”, Zarate wrote on the club’s official website.

“The injury was an important one, touching the tendon, but now it has gone and I feel strong.

“We couldn’t rush it, but I’m ready to play again. I’m strong and fast and available if I’m selected.”

Zarate admits scoring on the first day of the season at the Emirates was special but now he is looking to add to that tally after recovering from the injury setback.

“Scoring on the first day of the season at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal was a fantastic feeling, but I want to score more goals!”

Zarate will be hoping to make a start when West Ham visit Crystal Palace next Saturday.
