Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Jurgen Klopp has the ability to turn the Reds into a title winning side at some point.

The 48-year-old German signed a three-year contract on Thursday to become the new Liverpool manager, replacing Brendan Rodgers who was sacked last Sunday, following the Merseyside derby.

Klopp was unveiled in a press conference yesterday and the former Borussia Dortmund boss has already revealed that he wants to win the title in the next four years at Anfield.

Hamann feels the former Mainz manager is the right man for the job and feels his honest assessments will come as a breath of fresh air for the club and the players.

“He is the right guy for the job now”, Hamann told LFC TV.

“He is a genuinely honest guy and will tell the players and fans how it is, at a club like Liverpool that has been missing for a number of years.”

The former midfielder also stated that Klopp’s work at Dortmund, where he turned a club fighting for survival into title winners, will also stand him in good stead at Liverpool.

The German is hopeful that his compatriot will be able to turn Liverpool into a title winning side at some point during his reign at Anfield.

“He is a manager who has proved himself over the last six-seven years; he went into a club at a very difficult moment. Dortmund were on the verge of going bankrupt and relegated and he turned them into title winners.

“I don’t think the task [at Liverpool] is as big as Dortmund but he is manager who fits in well.

“Liverpool are about winning titles but they are not in a position at the moment. Hopefully, he can turn them into a title winning side again.”
