Leeds United legend Peter Lorimer believes that it is difficult for any new signing to come in and make a difference to a side that is lacking in confidence.

The Peacocks have had a mixed start to the season under new head coach Uwe Rosler, despite being active in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad.

While some of the new players have featured more prominently than others for Rosler's side, some of them are still new to the surroundings.

Both Will Buckley and Jordan Botaka are two such examples, with the former making his debut during the side's 2-0 loss against Birmingham City last weekend and Botaka managing his second appearance in a Whites' shirt in the same match.

While speaking about both wingers and their influence during the course of the match, the 68-year-old said that the situation has become harder for them because they are coming into a side that are lacking confidence at present.

The task for the manager will therefore be to work on the confidence issue and get the belief back into the team.

"Looking at things, we have brought five or six players in from the summer onwards and at the moment, it is not bedding down", Lorimer wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It can be difficult for players to come into a side which is lacking confidence.

"Will Buckley came in on Saturday and Jordan Botaka came on, but when you are bringing guys in where there is no confidence in the team, it is hard for them to get going.

"They all sense it straight away. Uwe has to work on getting that confidence and belief back and putting more pressure on the opposition."
