Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has revealed that the club are eyeing stability and winning trophies under Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool hierarchy moved swiftly following the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers last Sunday to secure the services of the former Borussia Dortmund boss on a three-year deal, with an option for a further year, on Thursday.

While Liverpool have not won the league for more than two decades, Klopp has already said that he wants to bring the Premier League title to Anfield in the next four years.

The club chairman revealed that the German is aware of the expectations at Anfield and said that the club hierarchy were also aware of the challenges when they took the reins of the club in 2010.

He is confident that under the present ownership Liverpool have progressed and admits that the club are now looking for some stability under the 48-year-old German.

Werner also insisted that they are committed towards taking Liverpool back to the top echelons of world football and stressed that winning major honours remains their top goal.

"He knows that there are great expectations and when we look at the time line I think we have made some improvements”, Werner told the club’s official website.

"We all know the challenge that we saw when we came into the club five years ago and I think we are proud when we walked into the stadium today and we showed Jurgen the new main stand that is being constructed. But until we win more trophies we won’t be satisfied.

"Our track record is to encourage stability.

“There have been more managers here than we hoped but I hope that Jurgen will be here for a very long time."

Since their FA Cup win in 2006, Liverpool have just won one more trophy in the form of the League Cup under Kenny Dalglish in 2012.
