Former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk has said that his comments, in which he compared his stint in the Premier League with that in the Scottish league, were mistranslated in Scotland.

Van Dijk had a two-year spell at Celtic Park, where he went on to win two Premiership titles under manager Ronny Deila. The defender was liked with a move to the Premier League through the course of his stint in Scotland.

And he finally earned his desired move when Southampton acquired him earlier this year.

The centre-back has lost no time in finding his feet in the English top flight and has gone on to make five appearances across all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s Saints.

The defender recently said that he has learnt more during his three weeks in the Premier League than through the course of his entire tenure in the Premiership.
