Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin believes that Jackson Martinez is still getting used to his new team and will soon start firing on all cylinders.

Martinez, who was linked with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal and Serie A outfit AC Milan earlier this summer, signed for Atletico Madrid in the transfer window from Portuguese side Porto.

The forward was in prolific goalscoring form throughout his stint at the Estadio do Dragao. However, he has struggled to get amongst the goals with the same frequency at the Vicente Calderon.

The Colombia international has a goal to show for his efforts from nine games across all competitions.

Nevertheless, Godin is unfazed by Martinez’s difficult start to life in the Spanish top flight, saying that it is just a matter of time before the forward finds his scoring boots.

"He came in from a different type of football, from a different club, which plays in a different way”, the defender was quoted as saying by Madrid-based daily AS.

“He's adapting to the team, to what Atletico Madrid requires, and when he's ready I'm sure he'll score goals.”

Atletico Madrid will resume their league campaign against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
