Bayern Munich star and Spain international Thiago Alcantara has heaped praise on Manchester United custodian David de Gea for his performance in an international fixture against Ukraine.

The Red Devils’ number 1 was in superlative form against the Ukrainians in a European Championship qualifier played last night at Kyiv, as he kept the visitors at bay with a flurry of saves and helped Spain win 1-0.

De Gea played in goal as Spanish national team boss Vicente del Bosque rested his preferred number 1 Iker Casillas for the game.

Thiago, who developed at the Barcelona youth academy and joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013, is a long time international team-mate of De Gea, and he has heaped praise on the goalkeeper, saying that he stopped everything that the hosts threw his way.

“The word sensational doesn't do David's performance justice”, the midfielder was quoted as saying by the Manchester United website.
