Rangers assistant boss David Weir feels that the equation in the league has changed as a result of the Gers’ stupendous displays and now all teams try to beat the Scottish giants.

Mark Warburton, who took charge of the Scottish heavyweights for the 2015/16 season, has guided his side to nine successive wins in the league so far this season as they remain on course to win the Scottish Championship and reach the Premiership.

Weir feels that due to the utter dominance of the Gers over their opponents, they have become the team to beat and every team is trying to become the first to down them in the league this term.

“Teams are trying to stop us and to make it more difficult for us, which you would expect”, the former Rangers defender was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

“Maybe at the start there was less of a fear of Rangers with regards to opening up and having a go, while recently we’ve seen teams sit back and try to hit us on the counter attack.

“It’s a different challenge for us and something we have to address, but everyone wants to beat Rangers – that’s always been the case – and particularly now as everyone wants to be the first to beat us.

“That goes with the territory of being here, and it’s a challenge we enjoy.”

Rangers will be up against Queen of the South in their next league fixture on Saturday at Ibrox and will look to grab all three points in order to consolidate their position atop the league standings.
