Nicky Clark has saluted Rangers' 1-0 win over Livingston in the Petrofac Training Cup this evening at Ibrox, which has set up a semi-final against St. Mirren.

Livingston arrived at Ibrox aiming to frustrate Rangers and packed men behind the ball, making life tough for the Gers from the start and resisting for long periods.

However, Rangers eventually made the breakthrough in the 75th minute when Clark hit a low drive from outside the penalty area which flew into the back of the net.

Livingston were forced to attack, but could not find a leveller and slipped out of the cup with a 1-0 defeat.

Clark was delighted to score, especially given the fierce competition for places at Ibrox.

"The most important thing was to get into the semi-final and we did that", he told BBC Alba.

"Obviously it's important for a striker to score and the gaffer has put together a good squad which means everybody is fighting for places and wants to be involved in the football we're playing here."

Clark insists that Rangers are now fully focused on their Scottish Championship trip to St. Mirren this coming Sunday and will think about the semi-final when the time arrives.

"Every game is important for us, but we just take every game as it comes. Now the focus is on St. Mirren at the weekend."
