Fulham boss Kit Symons has lauded the performance of goalkeeper Joe Lewis in last night’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United, saying that the custodian’s performance enabled his team to get a point from the encounter.

The Cottagers played out their third successive draw as they shared the points with Leeds United last night at Craven Cottage. The match saw Steve Evans make his managerial debut for the Whites.

Fulham are now lying 13th in the league table with a tally of 14 points from their 12 games and Symons feels that the credit for earning his team a point goes to Lewis, who kept the visitors at bay time and again.

“Joe Lewis had a great game in goal for us which I'm very thankful for, but in the side there weren't too many good performances so, with that in mind, you are unlikely to win a game of football”, the manager was quoted as saying by the Fulham website.

“Joe was excellent.

“We are thankful to him for getting a point. He nearly saved the penalty as well, he was unlucky with that.”

The manager further reflected that Lewis was the only bright spot on a disappointing night for Fulham.

“So he had a good performance, but there weren’t many others.”

Fulham will be up against Reading in their league fixture at Craven Cottage on Saturday and will be eager to pocket all three points.
