Rangers manager Mark Warburton does not know how his side lost 2-1 to Hibernian at Easter Road today and insists that after his side scored in the second half there was only one team in the match.

Hibernian took the lead in the 13th minute when Jason Cummings made space and unleashed a powerful, curling shot from about 20 yards out, which beat Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

Hibernian held the advantage going into half time, but Rangers regrouped at the break and drew level within a minute of the restart.

Lee Wallace got forward and hit a shot, which took a wicked deflection off Darren McGregor, which changed the course of the ball and sent it flying into the back of the net.

But Hibernian would not lie down and when John McGinn swung a corner into the box, Paul Hanlon made space and powered a header into the back of the net in the 73rd minute.

2-1 was how it ended and the gap at the top between Hibernian and Rangers is now just five points.

For Warburton, his side were clearly the better team and he bemoaned them heading home to Ibrox with nothing to show for their efforts.

"Nobody ever wants to lose a game of football, but the level of our performance was very strong", he told Rangers TV.

"We got the goal we wanted after half time, and very respectfully, there was only one team in it. We created chance after chance after chance, and we have to be more clinical.

"They came out with a real desire, but the first 15 minutes of the game were a little bit tentative, and we didn’t step out to the ball as we have to and we do very well.

"After that, I felt the players were excellent. I haven’t seen the stats yet although I’d like to see the possession stats", he continued.

"We will play a lot worse than that this season and get three points, and it’s an angry dressing room because the level of performance deserved more than that."
