Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he sees shades of his former Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs in Daniel Berg Hestad, who shot down Celtic in the Europa League last night, dubbing his display against the Scottish champions "outstanding".

Molde coach Solskjaer had no hesitation in naming the 40-year-old midfielder in his starting eleven for the crucial match at Celtic Park and Hestad did not let him down.

The midfielder was on hand to tuck away a cross, beating Tyler Blackett to the ball to put Molde 2-1 up in the 37th minute. It was a lead the Norwegian outfit never let slip as they booked a knockout round spot.

Hestad played all 90 minutes and Solskjaer can see shades of Manchester United legend Giggs in the way his fellow 40-year-old prepares for games.

"He reminds me in many ways of Giggs", Solskjaer told UEFA.

"It's the way he prepares for games, the way he's evolved his game, the way he's looked after himself and of course, he's a like a diesel engine – he starts slow and then goes quicker and quicker and quicker.

"[Against Celtic] he was outstanding again.

"It's so important for us to have him organising everyone, calming everyone down, getting on the ball.

"He played for Molde two years before I made my debut and that says everything about the great career he's enjoyed. It's an unbelievable story."

Molde are now through to the knockout round in the Europa League, while Celtic have a mountain to climb and must win their final two games to qualify.
