Werder Bremen are ready to sign AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong in January, but only a loan deal.

The midfielder snubbed reported interest from Manchester United to sign a new contract with AC Milan earlier this year, but he has only been a fringe player at the Rossoneri this season.




The former Manchester City man has played just five times for AC Milan this term and is said to be frustrated with the lack of action. The player is believed to looking for more first team football and could consider a move away from the club in January in search of more time on the pitch.

According to Italian daily Tuttosport, Werder Bremen are interested in signing the veteran Dutchman and is closely following developments at the San Siro.
 


However, the Bundesliga side are not ready to shell out the transfer fee required to sign him on a permanent deal in January and it has been suggested that they are only looking to sign him on loan.

The player’s wages, coupled with the transfer fee, are said to be making Werder Bremen think about the viability of the deal and they are only looking to sign him on a temporary contract.

De Jong has a contract until 2018 with the club and it has been suggested that unless something changes dramatically, he is expected to remain a fringe player at AC Milan this season.
