Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is edging closer towards exiting Fenerbahce, following the Turkish club’s bid to sign Brazil forward Fred.

The Dutch international, who joined the Yellow Canaries in the summer, has looked unsettled at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Van Persie has managed to score five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for Fenerbahce and has aroused the interest of Barcelona.

And Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim is bracing for the 32-year-old’s departure by trying to sign Fluminense striker Fred, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.

Fluminense are demanding €7m for Fred, who has scored eight goals in 22 appearances for the Brazilian outfit this season, but Fenerbahce are not prepared to pay more than €5m.
