Lionel Messi is in line to return to action for Barcelona in El Clasico against Real Madrid on Saturday.

The Argentina captain has been out of action since suffering a knee injury last month and his availability for Saturday’s big clash against Real Madrid has been in doubt.

However, it seems Messi is expected to be fit to feature for Barcelona in El Clasico and according to El Confidencial, he could play around 30 minutes for the Catalan giants should everything go according to plan.

The Argentine returned to training with the squad on Thursday and also participated in two practice games on Saturday to find some rhythm ahead of his much anticipated return.

While Barcelona have coped well in Messi’s absence, the club were desperate to have him back for this season’s first El Clasico and they will be encouraged to hear that their talisman could feature against Real Madrid.

Barcelona have a three-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table and will be hoping to extend it when they visit the Spanish capital on Saturday.

Messi’s return should also be a major morale booster for the away side as the forward is the all-time top scorer in El Clasicos with 21 goals against Barcelona’s most hated rivals in football.
