Liverpool have been scouting Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, with a view to potentially making a move for the Argentine.

The Argentina international’s future at Lazio has been a subject of furious speculation since last summer, as a number of top clubs are keen to snare him away from the Roman club.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Biglia for months and there was speculation in the summer that they tabled a bid for the player, only for Lazio to reject it.

However, Biglia’s future at Lazio is still in doubt as more and more clubs are joining the chase for the midfielder and according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have entered the race for the Argentine.

It has been suggested that the Reds have regularly sent scouts to watch the player in action in recent weeks and could make a move for the midfielder in the January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to add quality to his squad in the winter transfer window and Biglia is one of the names who is said to be on his shopping shortlist.

The 29-year-old midfielder is a crucial member of the Lazio squad and the club are unlikely to sanction any deal to sell the player in the middle of the season.

And his contract until 2018 also allows Lazio to play hardball for Biglia should an offer land on their doorstep during the winter transfer window.
