Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco, according to the player’s agent Andrea d’Amico.

The Italy international has been in fine form since joining the MLS outfit from Serie A champions Juventus in January.

Giovinco has thus far scored 23 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for Toronto FC, in addition to providing 16 assists.

And D’Amico revealed that Barcelona have contacted him over signing his client in January.

"It's true, Barcelona have contacted me personally, but Sebastian will not move on loan at the end of the MLS season", he said during RaiSport’s program Zona on Italian television.

The Catalans will turn their attention to Giovinco if they fail to rope in their primary target Nolito from Celta Vigo during the upcoming winter transfer window.

The move could also suit Giovinco, who is looking to play at a big European club to impress Italy boss Antonio Conte.

The 28-year-old, whose present deal with Toronto FC runs until 2019, has 23 caps and a solitary goal for Italy to his name.
