Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel has revealed that he chose Stoke City due to the club’s free-flowing style of play.

The midfielder, who joined the Potters on a season-long loan deal in the summer, is excited to play under manager Mark Hughes.

Stoke City used to be a physical side previously, but Hughes is slowly transforming the club into a creative unit by bring in skillful players such as Bojan Krkic, Xherdan Shaqiri and and Ibrahim Afellay.

And Van Ginkel insisted that Stoke’s ambitious style of play helped him to choose the Britannia outfit over other clubs in the summer.

“That’s why I came to Stoke [as they shed their physical style of play under Mark Hughes]”, he told Chelsea TV.
